Why we exist

When potential meets opportunity, communities transform.

Paint to Succeed was founded on a powerful belief: when you are equipped with the skills, direction, and pathways to paid work, your entire community can be transformed. It is built on the 30-year legacy of Superior Plus Painting.

Participants learn real painting skills, from prepping a wall to finishing a job, and how to turn that skill into paid work at real job sites.

Why this trade pays

  • 650K+ Unfilled construction jobs annually, as of 2024
  • 3M+ Trade vacancies projected by 2030
  • 40% Of current skilled-trades workers nearing retirement

The program

The Four Days

  1. Day 1: Foundations & Safety

Tour the tools: brushes, rollers, trays, tape, drop cloths, ladders. Cover safety gear and ventilation, learn surface-prep basics like cleaning, sanding, and patching, and practice taping clean lines by hand.

  2. Day 2: Core Painting Technique

Cut in around edges and trim, roll for even coverage without drips or lap marks, and keep a wet edge. Paint a section of a practice wall, then learn proper tool cleanup.

  3. Day 3: Color, Estimating & Exterior

Color theory (undertones and sheen), plus exterior prep and ladder safety. Measure rooms, calculate square footage, and build a real price quote. Guest talk from a local painting contractor.

  4. Day 4: Real Job Site & Graduation

Work in small supervised teams to complete a real paid project, and walk through how you would have quoted the job. Graduation ceremony with certificates, a group photo, and a take-home kit.
